Salt fired, rope-inlayed Vase

Wheel thrown Vase, ca. 28cm tall, decorated in the japanese Mishima Technique (Rope-inlay), where we take a length of rope and roll it over the surface of the clay to create impressions. These impressions are then filled in with several layers of coloured slip, which is then in return scraped back to reveal the imprinted pattern.

Saltfired for 24h in our Gas kiln to Stoneware temperatures (1235*) at which point we introduce Salt into the kiln chamber. This develops the characteristic surface on the pieces and makes each one a unique piece
