Big Salt fired Vase/Statement Piece
Saltfired for 24h in our Gas kiln to Stoneware temperatures (1235*), at which point we introduce Salt into the kiln chamber. This develops the characteristic surface on the piece and makes each one a unique piece.
In this case it created the dramatic rivulets of glaze running down the vase.
Unfortunately- as you can see from the picture- it ran down all the way and `glued` the piece onto the wads used to separate the piece from the kiln shelf. The bottom is ground down and cleaned up so it won't scratch the surface underneath!
